HistoricTO is a new cultural experience that connects Toronto's communities at Toronto History Museums. HistoricTO welcomes you to celebrate summer locally and safely at Toronto History Museums!
HistoricTO is a time-ticketed, guided neighbourhood walking tour experience anchored at Toronto History Museums that connects Toronto's communities by providing equitable and inclusive access to local history, heritage and land-based learnings at Toronto History Museums. HistoricTO also includes the reopening of Market Gallery for the free exhibit, StreetARToronto You've Changed.
Participants must complete a health pre-screening prior to attendance, and must adhere to the HistoricTO guidelines. HistoricTO tours operate rain or shine; they may be cancelled in the event of severe weather or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation, the PWYC donation may be applied to a future tour.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, HistoricTO program is designed following Toronto Public Health COVID-19 Guidance for Cultural & Heritage Institutions and Attractions guidelines. Guidelines include lower ratios and capacity, physical distancing, and mandatory health screening. Interiors will remain closed to the public until September.
Toronto History Museums will be welcoming visitors back starting July 29 th, 2020. Timed-entry tickets must be booked in advance on (Hyperlink to Ticketing Website landing page) beginning July 20 th, 2020.

HistoricTO Phase 1
HistoricTO is a time-ticketed, guided neighbourhood walking tour experience anchored at Toronto History Museums that connects Toronto's communities by providing equitable and inclusive access to local history, heritage and land-based learnings at Toronto History Museums.
Toronto History Museums grounds will be open for time-ticketed neighbourhood walking tours, anchored at the museums, from July 29 to September 4 while CampTO is being offered at the sites; Market Gallery will reopen to the public during this period as it is not affected by CampTO. Visitors can view the exhibit, StreetARToronto; You've Changed. Hours of operation will be Wednesday to Sunday, 11AM-5PM. The first admission will be 11:00 AM, the last admission will be 3:30 PM.
Dates – Wednesday, July 29, 2020 – Friday, September 4, 2020

What do I need to know before visiting Toronto History Museums?
To ensure health and safety of all staff and visitors. Please, note the following before booking your ticket online:
o Purchase your timed-admission online by phone (link to call: (416) 392-6907) before you head to the museum.
o Admission requires a timed ticket. If you arrive without a timed-ticket, you will only be admitted if space is available, or you will need to purchase an online ticket for a future time slot using your mobile device.
o Please arrive on time for your timeslot. If you are late, you may be required to wait until a future timeslot.
o Don't visit Toronto History Museum site if you feel unwell. More information on conducting a self-assessment.
o Per the City of Toronto bylaw 541-2020 all visitors over the age of two years are required to wear a mask while indoors.
o HistoricTO neighbourhood walking tours will take place outdoors. The building will remain closed to the public until September 2020. Washrooms will not be available; interpreters will direct guests to the closest available washroom along the tour route.
How will Toronto History Museums maintain proper health and safety measures?
Following Toronto Public Health COVID-19 Guidance for Cultural & Heritage Institutions and Attractions , we are implementing the following measures to ensure the safety of visitors and staff:
o Please follow posted health and safety guidelines throughout your visit at Market Gallery:
o Remain at least two (2) meters apart from other visitors at all times.
o Do not gather in groups; please keep your “social circle” to a maximum of 5 people. If your group is larger than 5 people, please except that your group will be divided
o Please wait your turn. There are a limited number of visitors allowed inside Market Gallery.
o Use hand sanitization stations located inside Market Gallery.
o Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue; if no tissue is available, use your elbow.
o Per the City of Toronto bylaw 541-2020 all visitors over the age of two years are required to wear a mask while indoors.
o Keep your family unit together when walking through the Market Gallery and on neighbourhood walking tour.
o Keep children within reach at all times.
o Please follow the guidelines provided by the historical interpreter when crossing intersections in the neighbourhood.
o Tours will go rain or shine; bring sunscreen and water on hot days and an umbrella on rainy ones. In the event of thunder and lightning, the tour will be suspended or cancelled.
Additionally, Toronto History Museums is:
o Limiting visitor numbers and ticketed entry
o Screening employees for COVID-19 symptoms before work
o Implementing measures to ensure physical distancing
o Practicing proper use of cloth and non-medical face masks
o Supporting and encourage proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette
o Enhancing environmental cleaning and disinfection
o Collecting your contact information provided through the registration process (e.g. First name, Last Name, Address, Email, Phone Number etc.) The City of Toronto will not collect, use, maintain or have access to any personal information collected in the purchasing of tickets.
o Providing training to all employees to ensure they are familiar with the protective measures so they can better guide visitors.
o Asking only staff that are necessary to making your visitor experience safe and engaging will be working inside sites.
o Requiring staff to complete a daily health questionnaire. Staff will be following all health and safety procedures, including wearing masks and staying two (2) meters apart.
o Asking any staff feeling ill will be asked to stay home.
o These measures will be adjusted as the situation evolves and in accordance with Toronto Public Health guidelines .
Additional Health and safety measures in interior space at Market Gallery:
o Managing visitor flow for Market Gallery (e.g. creating one-way aisles with prominent signage and/or floor markings).
o Providing enhanced access to hand sanitizer stations at Market Gallery.
o Implementing increased cleaning and disinfecting at Market Gallery.
How do I book a ticket to visit?
To help maintain the health and safety of everyone at Toronto History Museums, timed-entry ticketing is in place to manage capacity based on the location and experience. Timed-entry tickets must be booked in advance using our (Link to Ticketing website)
There are a few things you'll need to take into account before heading down:
Are visitors to Toronto History Museums required to wear a mask or face covering?
Masks will not be mandatory for the outdoor walking tour experience.
To help keep our community healthy and safe, all visitors over 2 years of age are required to wear a mask or face covering while visiting the Market Gallery. This is in accordance with City of Toronto bylaw 541-2020 requiring the wearing of masks or other face coverings within enclosed public spaces. Toronto History Museums will not be providing masks at this time.
Is anyone exempt from having to wear a mask or face covering while visiting Toronto History Museums?
If it's not possible for you to wear a mask / face covering or a face shield due to a pre-existing health condition, or other reasons protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code, please contact Market gallery at marketgallery@toronto.ca or call 416-392-7604 in advance and we will attempt to accommodate wherever possible.
Will staff be screening visitors and staff before entering Market Gallery?
City of Toronto staff will be stationed outside St. Lawrence Market to ensure that visitors complete the Toronto Public Health self-screening questionnaire with each visitor. If they have answered “No” to all five question visitors will be able to proceed with their visit. Staff will be asked the same questions before reporting for their shift.
Has Toronto History Museums made any changes to its spaces?
To help maintain physical distancing, capacity of Market Gallery has been significantly reduced. Signage throughout Market Gallery – in elevators, within spaces, in hallways and in stairwells will advise visitors of how many people can be in any one space at a time. Toronto History Museum retail is now online and you can shop at hyperlink. Visitors may be asked to wait before entering the gallery if it has reached capacity.
Interiors of other Museum sites remain closed.
How have Toronto History Museums amenities changed?
Interior spaces, including washrooms, will be closed to the public. Please check the Museum website for details on open public washrooms near the Museum location. Gift shops will be closed; visitors can shop online through a new online retail experience, as part of the City of Toronto's ShopHere partnership.
